An exciting opportunity is available for a hands-on contributor to join a dynamic fast paced team solving problems in the production of the next generation of Li-ion batteries. The position is responsible for maintaining processes related to backend Si battery operations and driving process improvements in both the equipment and materials. The successful candidate will own and be responsible for the complete spectrum of process challenges from process and material development, troubleshooting, reporting, process transfer and documentation and conduct failure analysis for their process segment. Proficiency in the maintenance and development of multiple processes (that can include but are not limited to): Overcoat/Sealing, Epoxy Joining, Application processes (stencil printing, dispense), Mechanical Finishing (CNC-lapping, laser cutting).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a process engineering environment maintaining and troubleshooting processes. Experience controlling and reducing process variability using SPC data reporting and analysis. Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g. Excel, JMP) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in process and materials development.
  • Maintain production tooling, processes and necessary documentation. Support transition and training to operations team as appropriate.
  • Perform manufacturing experiments; Interpret, analyze, and report results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Si Wafer handling experience and knowledge of best practices.
  • Experience with practical aspects of Epoxy joining and sealing and application processes.
  • Experience with mechanical finishing processes (CNC-lapping, laser cutting) including appropriate machine programming fluency.
  • Basic understanding of materials science of inks and epoxy joining an advantage
  • CAD software experience desirable

Job Description

  • Enovix is looking for engineering and science students currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs to work during the summer of 2017.
  • Candidates will work in a hands-on research and development and pilot production environment producing and testing revolutionary Li-ion energy storage cells.
  • Students will conduct experiments, design processes and tooling and gain experience with semiconductor front and back end process equipment including wet processing (etching & plating), mechanical processing (machining, laser dicing) and electrical testing.
  • Students will be given self-contained projects that can be completed over the internship assignment and will report into engineers within the company
  • Students will prepare experimental plans for their work, collect and analyze process and test data and prepare reports for their work and conclusions, including a final presentation at the on the summer presented to the engineering team and executives of the company.
